A little about me

What inspired you to pursue a career as a Developmental Educator?
When I was young I grew up with people living with a disability in my life in my community and at school and found myself wanting to know more about what I could do. Becoming a DE seemed like the right pathway for me.
I wanted to be able to help others and to be able to create a positive environment for those I can.

What are the most rewarding aspects of being a Developmental Educator?
What is amazing is the privilege of being a part of some ones life and being able to contribute to their growth and development. This is what is rewarding. The work is challenging at times but it can be inspiring to. I learn so much about others and myself.

What advice would you give to new Developmental Educators entering the field today?
Whilst there are constant challenges, disability is full of them but there are also opportunities, embrace them. Keep on trying . Change in this field is constant.
The profession is growing changing and the rewards are amazing.
Be ready for a life time of learning and to meet the most amazing people.
And Make sure you take time to take care of yourself.

Do you have a favourite quote?

What do you like to do for fun?
Fun outside of work can be working in the garden, or on the couch with a good book or out somewhere on my bike.
