About Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is mandatory for all Practising DEA members and a key requirement for renewing your membership.
CPD is essential for maintaining registration with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and upholding professional standards. As a recognized professional body by the NDIA, the DEA supports this requirement.
The CPD program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of Developmental Educators, ensuring they remain competent and current in the field of disability. Ongoing CPD contributes to the high standards expected by the DEA, safeguarding the well-being of individuals with disabilities.
As the governing body for Developmental Educators, the DEA expects members to engage in professional development to maintain the highest levels of competence and conduct.
Please review the CPD Guidelines and Record for details on acceptable activities, required CPD points, and the submission process. Remember to keep evidence of your CPD activities, as you may be selected for a random audit.
Membership renewal will only be processed once your CPD Record is submitted and approved by the Professional Development Officer, which must be done within 5 days of renewing your membership.
