Carina Beattie
Current role:
DEA Advisor, Developmental Educators Australia Inc.
How long you have been working for DEA:
I have been working DEA since February 2024.
Your DE work experience:
As a Developmental Educator, I bring a strong understanding of the profession and its needs, which supports my role as the DEA Advisor. I have over 18 years of experience in the Early Childhood and Education sector, specialising in Autism. My practice is shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience as a neurodivergent individual and parent of neurodivergent children.
Since completing my Master of Autism at the University of Wollongong in 2020, I have focused on a holistic, person-centred approach that builds on individual strengths and fosters self-determination. Collaboration is central to my work, and I am committed to strengthening the Developmental Education profession by promoting empowerment, advocacy, and inclusive practices across the industry.
Why you joined DEA:
I joined DEA as an employee to contribute to the recognition and advancement of the Developmental Educator profession, and to continue championing the rights and full participation of individuals with disabilities. Guided by a human rights framework, I am committed to promoting inclusion, equity, and opportunities for all.
