Your current role:
Flinders University Student – 4th year. I work as both a support worker for young adults with cerebral palsy and intellectual disability as well as a therapy assistant for children and young adults with muscular dystrophy.
Your DE work experience:
Whilst studying a Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education, I have spent two years working as a support worker for children and young adults with cerebral palsy and intellectual disability in their homes, Day Options Programs and running respite weekends. Since then, I have started as a therapy assistant under the guidance of two Developmental Educators, working with children and young adults with muscular dystrophy. After my degree I hope to practice as a Developmental Educator and eventually a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to support people with disabilities, their families and support systems!
Why you joined the Board:
I joined the Board to further my understanding of the Developmental Education landscape and learn more about what is involved in running the representative association behind the scenes.
